What is this "happiness" and how do I get some?

I went for years without truly getting into relationships. I'd decided that I needed to work on myself and be truly happy in and of myself before I decided to add another human to the mix.

This is actually pretty healthy behavior. Somewhere along the way, I found this quote. I wrote it down and it's been on my mirror for years.

Somewhere along the way, I became so happy with my life that I didn't want any type of change whatsoever. I do actually love my simple little existence. I've finally become mostly happy with myself. (Ok, I'll admit to the everpresent wish that losing weight didn't require diets or exercise.)

So the question remains, how do I change my life if I'm happy with my  life? Why would I? And, why should I?

This simple life makes me happy. I've learned to celebrate every tiny little thing. 

I'm not sure, but in my experience, many people think they must have the biggest and the best to be truly happy. That almost makes me sad because they will always be looking for the next best thing that will make them happy. 

There's a method to determine if something belongs in your life. Pick it up and hold it. Feel its shape and texture. Think of its history. If you get an overall feeling of peace and memory, then keep it. If you get nothing, then why do you have it? Give it away to someone who will love it. 

We don't have to always look for the next best thing to be happy. Happiness starts within.
